About
Since 1993 I have had the privilege of representing clients throughout Southwest Washington in the areas of domestic relations (family law), criminal defense/traffic infractions, and estate planning/probate law. a founding partner in the law firm of Spencer & Sundstrom, PLLC from 1998 until July 2018. In an effort to better serve the needs of my clients, I have since opened my new practice, Chris R. Sundstrom Law Firm PLLC, where I continue to provide experienced, competent, and objective legal services to our community.
In 1992, I received my Juris Doctorate degree (JD) from Seattle University School of Law (formerly the University of Puget Sound, School of Law) and I was admitted to practice in Washington State in 1993 and the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington in 1994. Prior to law school, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, in Criminal Justice from Washington State University in 1984 (Go Cougs!) and I was the recipient of the following national honors (Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi, and as a distinguished military graduate, R.O.T.C). From 1984 to 1988, I proudly served in the United States Army and, thereafter from 1988 until 2002 in the United States Army Reserves. I was honorably discharged having attained the rank of Major U.S. Army Reserves. From 1994 to 2008, I served as the prosecuting attorney for the cities of Battle Ground, Ridgefield, and La Center, Washington and represented the City of Ridgefield, Washington as the city attorney from 2007 through 2011.
As a member, I am in good standing with the Clark County Bar Association and the Washington State Bar Association. I was the past president of the Clark County Volunteer Lawyers Program Board of Directors, was recognized as Volunteer of the Year in 2003, and served as a Clark County Bar Association trustee from 2005 through 2008. During this tenure, I received an award from the Clark County Bar Association President for my efforts in revitalizing the County Bar Association’s continuing education program. My experiences further include service as judge pro tempore in both Clark County Superior and District courts.
On a more personal level, I am happily married to Stacy Sundstrom and the proud father of three children, Mitchell, Katelyn, and Cameron. When I am not serving the needs of my clients, I enjoy all outdoors activities, as well as country living. I am a volunteer for the Mt. St. Helens Institute, and a 2016 graduate of the institute’s Volcano Naturalist Program. I am also a volunteer and current co-chair for the Vancouver chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF), which holds a yearly fund-raising banquet each year to generate funds for RMEF. In 2018, our chapter was the top fundraising banquet in the State of Washington.
